Artist Michael Alm carves a cross-section of a red fox head out of wood.
I filmed this project three years ago, and didn’t have the tools or the know-how at the the time to edit it. Finally after changing computers twice and almost loosing the video to a corrupt hard drive, I’m happy to have this project complete!
The fox head is made from basswood with a walnut nose. The skull and spine are made from hard maple, and the ear is built from maple veneers. The eye is a glass taxidermy eye that’s held into place with epoxy clay. The fur is made from cedar shavings that are individually applied with glue.
